An Integrated Community Fire Extinguisher and Water Supply System inauguration ceremony was organized at the Sattola Boundary Slum in Mohakhali, Dhaka on May 18, 2023. The event was organized by Marginalized Communities Project (Dhaka North City Corporation), WaterAid Bangladesh, and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra. In addition, DSK’s WASH4UrbanPoor-DNCC project is being implemented with the support of WaterAid Bangladesh and Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).
The city is experiencing an increase in fire risk as a result of multiple flaws. In the city of Dhaka, poor neighborhoods are especially susceptible to fire. The local government department “Improving the Quality of Life of Marginal People”- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has developed a “Integrated Community Fire Extinguisher and Water Supply System” through community outreach under the direction of the Honorable Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, Md. Atiqul Islam, in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh, Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), and UNDP Bangladesh.
