Discussion on Bangladesh’s Environment

On January 30, 2025, a special discussion session was held at the head office of Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK), organized by the institution, focusing on the topic of “Bangladesh’s Environment.”

The session was chaired by DSK’s President, Dr. Nur Mohammad Talukder. The esteemed speakers included Dr. Anjan Datta, DSK Advisory Council Member, distinguished economist, and former Program Manager-UNEP, and Engineer Dr. Syed Ahmed, PhD, former representative of APO.

Dr. Anjan Datta stated, “DSK is doing important work regarding the environment. However, environmental pollution is rapidly increasing in various sectors such as agriculture, water, and sewage systems in Bangladesh. Therefore, DSK must take effective steps in collaboration with development partners to ensure environmental conservation and strengthen sustainable development initiatives.”

Dr. Syed Ahmed, welcoming DSK’s efforts, said, “DSK is playing a crucial role in environmental conservation. I expect that, through further significant work, DSK will be able to open new horizons in environmental protection in the future.”

Additionally, Professor Dr. ASM Golam Mortuza, Secretary General of DSK; Dr. Dibalok Singha, Executive Director, and other DSK staff were present at the session.

The speakers emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about pollution prevention and discussed our collective responsibility in environmental conservation. A video documentary about DSK’s 35 years of progress was also presented during the session, showcasing the organization’s journey and achievements.
